Next Friday in PlasticMurs, Valencia!
It’s time for the summer shows! Next Friday in El Anden, Barcelona
Sweet short video by Joe Bronson showing how difficult is to take a general shot of this project. It was still unfinished by then.
My second project in Vancouver was this endless building in Mt. Pleasant. The idea behind it was to create a forest showing local indigenous tales like the magic canoe, and showing the human touch in the wild, which is what Vancouver means to me, a city placed in the middle of the wilderness. That’s why you’ll see elements showing the ‘domestification’ of the nature by the human being. The walls are so large that isn’t possible to get a main photo, so I had to take several pictures in order to have an idea. Many thanks to my amazing team there Andrew, Michael and Tierney and the whole team from Vanmural fest and Atomic Cartoons who took good care of me. Photos by Gabriel Hall

Hi again Canada! I was recently invited to Vancouver, BC by the nice guys at Vanmural fest to do a couple of projects. This was the first one, a small wall for their annual ArtSmash event in Granville Island. There were a few walls like this that were painted by great local artists and they all were unveiled at the opening day where there was live music, food and good beer.
I went a bit out of my comfort zone for this one, trying a different color palette, no plain background and adding some water reflections and liquid vibe to the scene.

Human Architectures #2
Acrylic on wood, resin and light. 2018
Showing now at Tashkeel as part of the ‘10 years later’ exhibition. Featuring new works by some of the artists who have been part of this special organization.
This commission had given us an opportunity to experiment and explore new possibilities, which was also my goal when I did the art residency there back in 2013.
Always grateful to @lateefam and the whole team behind the studio for that opportunity which clearly marked a milestone and helped me in learning about new techniques and materials.
The artwork is now part of the @tashkeelstudio collection.
“As machines become more and more efficient and perfect, it will become clear that imperfection is the greatness of the human being.”
I designed this artwork for a large banner that is covering up the construction of an upcoming creative space in the heart of Barcelona, Casa Seat.
Tashkeel celebrates a decade of art and design with an exhibition of new work commissioned from 16 artists and designers whose careers it has helped shape and, in turn, whose practice has been part of the organisation’s growth.
Featured artists: Afshan Daneshvar, Ammar Al Attar, Areej Kaoud, Azza Al Qubaisi, eL Seed, Hamdan Buti Al Shamsi, Hind bin Demaithan, Maitha Demithan, Majid Al Yousef, Manal Al Dowayan, Mark Pilkington, Myneandyours, Nasir Nasrallah, Ruben Sanchez, Wissam Shawkat and Zuleika Penniman.
Accompanied by a programme of talks and workshops.
